Thank you for your interest in Lex Eat Together which will bring food and community to those in need in Lexington! Lex Eat Together dinners for those in need will begin in three weeks, Wednesday, October 21stat 5:15pm at Church of Our Redeemer, 6 Meriam St. There will be a “soft” opening just for interested volunteers and supporters on October 14th to help us get ready for the 21st.
The Church of Our Redeemer, our host location for Lex Eat Together (LET), has completed its renovation. The Great Hall and kitchen both look beautiful. LET’s new refrigerator has been purchased and installed. LET also has a dedicated cabinet in the kitchen to store a Cuisinart and Mixer, along with basic food kitchen staples such as oils, spices and canned goods.
Lex Eat Together has been incorporated, and the IRS has formally granted tax exempt status as a non‐ profit 501(c)(3). All donations to LET are tax deductible.
There are now more than 125 people who have signed up as volunteers. Your interest is a wonderful testimony to our community. For those of you who have signed up to volunteer either via the www.Lexeattogther.org website or at the earlier meetings, you will be receiving an email invitation this week to Sign‐Up‐Genius, an online website that organizes volunteers, this week. It will be an easy way to select and confirm your chosen volunteer activity.
If you find that a specific Wednesday and/or activity is already filled‐up, please select another day and time that will work for you. Each one of you is needed, so please be patient if a specific time slot is unavailable the first few weeks. Please also know that there are other ways to volunteer at LET besides the weekly meal. If you would like more information about other volunteer opportunities, please email us at email@example.com.
You will also be receiving an email soon with specific information about your volunteer jobs and with policy statements and important guidelines for volunteers.
Posters inviting guests are being placed in libraries, places of worship, public buildings, food pantries, elderly housing, and many other places. Cards will be printed so that people can take away information about the dinner. We expect there may be a handful of guests at the initial dinners, and volunteers may outnumber guests. This situation will not last once folks in need know about LET’s weekly meal. Chelmsford began their meals with only 7 guests at the initial dinner and now has 80 guests a week.
So please spread the word by letting folks in need know: Starting on Wednesday, October 21st at 5:15pm, Lex Eat Together will be serving a nutritious meal weekly at Church of Our Redeemer (6 Meriam St.) in Lexington Center.
